José Carreras at the Pula Arena – August 26!
José Carreras, one of the most renowned opera singers of his generation, is coming to Croatia to perform on August 26 at 9 PM in the magnificent Pula Arena. Accompanied by the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, Carreras will perform some of the most iconic arias and songs that have marked his impressive career.
Conductor David Giménez, known for his exceptional understanding of the voice and his long-standing collaboration with Carreras, will lead the Zagreb Philharmonic to deliver a flawless musical performance under the stars. The evening will be further enriched by a special guest performance from soprano Dušica Bijelić, whose rich voice and expressiveness will perfectly complement Carreras’ interpretations.
Carreras is world-famous for his outstanding vocal technique, deep emotional expression, and his portrayals of roles in the operas of Verdi and Puccini. Born in Spain, he has captivated audiences across the globe with his exceptional artistry.
Throughout his highly successful career, Carreras has performed over 60 roles on opera stages and in studios. His voice, recognizable for its warmth and expressiveness, has captured the attention of listeners on every continent. With over 85 million records sold, Carreras is one of the most commercially successful opera singers of all time.
What makes him truly special is not only his voice but also his contribution to the fight against leukemia. After surviving the disease in 1987, he founded the José Carreras International Leukaemia Foundation to support research and treatment worldwide.
Following his recovery, he became one of the most important ambassadors of classical music. A passionate football fan, he was the initiator of the legendary "Three Tenors" project, which began with a concert at the opening of the 1990 World Cup in Italy. Together with Plácido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti, Carreras performed in more than 30 concerts that shattered all popularity records in the world of classical music.
