Artist description
Lollobrigida Girls, also known as Duo Lollobrigida, VIS Lollobrigida or just Lollobrigida, is a Croatian-Slovenian electro-pop band. The members of Lollobrigida are Ida Prester (vocals, founder), Petra Cigoj (vocals), Jernej Šavel, Kleemar (Matej Končan), Marko Turkalj and Ivan Levačić Levi.
The band began with a demo-CD from 2003 that the author Ida Prester gave to several members of Zagreb’s underground/alternative music scene. On that demo-CD, a typical Lo-Fi music work, the author Ida Prester performs all of the instrumental and vocal parts.
In public performances of the songs from the CD, Natalija Dimčevski joins Ida and they perform under the name Lollobrigida Girls.
In June 2004 they performed on the third Zagreb Gay Pride.
In 2006, as Natalija left, the line-up changed, as well as Lollobrigida’s scene and musical style. Computer generated sounds as the only background for vocals is replaced with real instruments. Except Ida Prester, the founder and a constant in Lollobrigida, its members relatively often come and go, while the name of the band gets the prefix “VIS”.
During 2011 in many interviews, Ida Prester presents the work of members of Lollobrigida on a new, third album. The music web site Popboks rated, based on its readers votes, the album “Pilula” the best regional album in 2012.
From the foundation till this day, Lollobrigida held many performances in Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austria and Hungary. Especially noted is their series of performances at the EXIT festival in Novi Sad.
By winning the Best Regional Act Award by MTV Adria, they were automatically nominated to compete in the Best European Act by MTV Europe Music Awards 2009.
