Pan Arena Ice Fever returns to Zagreb! On Sunday, January 13th, when the first puck drops on Arena Zagreb ice, begins part two of this season's Pan Arena Ice Fever - throughout which the Bears will play five Erste Bank Ice Hockey League games until Januray 27th. In front of 15,000 fans which are expected at every game, will visit Innsbruck, Villach, Dornbirn, and two more teams that are yet to be determined.

 

This will be the Bears' first time in the beauty at Lanište in 2013, but not their debut there. The premier was in 2010/2011, when they played four matches. First visited Klagenfurt, followed by the Vienna Capitals, Telemach Olimpija, and then Villach. The Bears beat Olimpija and the Carinthian Eagles, took a point in overtime against Klagenfurt, and lost against the Caps.

 

Last season they spent longer in Arena and hosted seven visiting teams - Acroni Jesenice, Sapa Fehervar AV19, Klagenfurt, Telemach Olimpija, Red Bull Salzburg and the Black Wings from Linz. They came out celebrating two points against Jesenice, KAC, Olimpija, and Red Bull, one point in overtime against Alba Volan and VSV, while accepting defeat from Linz. From those seven games, the ones against Jesenice, Villach, and Red Bull stand out. Against Jesenice the Bears mathematically secured playoffs, while against Villach they reached their 500th goal in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League. Of course, there is also the famous match against Red Bull who were cut off in just 69 seconds. It was so important for Zagreb's boys to get four goals that they crushed the game and took two points.

 

This 2012/2013 season the Bears took a step, and maybe even two, further. They skated into the season with a summer Arena Ice Fever in Pula during which they played two Erste Bank Ice Hockey League games (against Telemach Olimpija and the Vienna Capitals) in the Roman amphitheatre that's over 2000 years old, while in November followed part one of the Pan Arena Ice Fever (Telemach Olimpija, KAC, Red Bull), and in just a few days Zagreb will once again catch ice fever. During the first AIF, the Bears got two victories and one loss. They were left without points in the first match against Olimpija, which was followed up by a victory against Klagenfurt that put them at the top of the league's rank, and then a victory against Red Bull. Now Zagreb's boys will face off in the second part of the Pan Arena Ice Fever from Jan. 13 - 27th against Innsbruck, Villach, Dornbirn, and two teams that are yet to be determined.
